When we sing together,

In a way, nothing happens.
The song begins, moves forward, repeats, ends. Life goes on.

But when we sing together,
We flirt and make love,
We settle arguments, we roar out in anger,
Give brief life to a world of good things,
Tell our side of the story,
Celebrate a victory,
Lament a loss,

When we sing together,
We renew our strength.
Walls fall down,
Prisons vanish,
Apartheid is dismantled,
A dream becomes reality. Life goes on.

I write, play and teach songs for people to sing together,
Mostly in worship, but in other places, too.
